The Government has asked Ghanaians to accommodate any inconveniences that may come with the 10-day shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Plant.
The Ghana National Gas Company Limited (Ghana Gas) will shut down the Plant in the Western Region today, Wednesday, 31 August, for maintenance.
The renovation is scheduled to last for 10 days according to a letter signed and released on Monday, 29 August by Alfred Agbamey, Corporate Communications Manager of the company.
The letter said: “The plant has been in operation for more than 12,000 hours since pre-commissioning and commissioning activities in 2014” necessitating a mandatory maintenance of the facility, adding that: “The mandatory outage is required by original equipment manufacturers of certain critical components in the gas processing plant on a periodic basis”.
The maintenance period is also necessary to facilitate warranty assurance on the installed equipment and the validity of operating insurance cover.
Addressing journalists about the effects of the shutdown, Deputy Energy Minister, Mr John Jinapor said the country is out of the “worst scenario” as far as the dumsor (erratic power situation) is concerned and pleaded with Ghanaians to “bear with us”.
