President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Professor Ken Attafuah as Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA).
A letter dated 27th January, 2017, and signed by the president read: “I hereby appoint you as Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing council of the Authority, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
“May I take the opportunity to congratulate you formally on your appointment.”
The letter asked the lawyer and academic to indicate his acceptance or rejection of the appointment upon receipt of the letter.
Prof Attafuah is the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Central University College and a legal practitioner. He was a member of the legal team of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2013 presidential petition.
