A young man has been nabbed by police for allegedly murdering a man on his farm at Assin Kushea in the Central Region.
The suspect, Yaw Nkansah, 32, allegedly stabbed to death Opanyin Amissah, 60, who had accused him of the theft of cassava and plantain from his farm at Assin Kushea. Nkansah immediately went into hiding and police at Assin Praso, who were handling the case, had tried unsuccessfully to locate him, Accra News’ Professor Elisha reported.
However, on the afternoon of Thursday July 14, 2016, a trader – name withheld – who also lived at Kushea, while on a trip to Kumasi to buy wares to sell, spotted Nkansah getting on board the bus he was travelling on at the outskirts of Bekwai.
The trader informed the driver of the bus to drive to the nearest police station as the accused was wanted in connection with murder. The driver complied and the bus made its way into Bekwai where Nkansah was subsequently handed over to police there and later transferred to Assin Praso District Command of the Ghana Police Service.
