AshGold boss Kudjoe Fianoo has taken a dim view of the exit of striker Didier Kore.
The player, according to the Miners’ CEO, resorted to very unprofessional means to leave for Tunisian side CS Sfaxien. Fianoo claims it was done without the say so of AshGold.
Kore signed for the North African side as a free agent following his contract expiration after four seasons. According to the Miners, Kore did not feature for the final game of the season against Olympics to, ostensibly, bury his father.
“Kore sort permission from us that he wants to attend his father’s funeral and we granted that wish despite our doubts,” Fianoo complained. Speaking to Citi FM, the recently-crowned league champions gave more detail.
“He managed to convince us with a burial certificate so we agreed. He missed the last game of the season and his contract end at the end of this season, so he took advantage. We are offended because he had to be honest with us, he was a free agent and could have easily told us he didn’t want to renew his contract.”
Kore, who was key to AshGold’s run to their first title in 19 years, has not commented on the matter.
