Hundreds of disgruntled customers of First allied savings and loans have on Tuesday October 2 embarked on a demonstration to register their displeasure against the refusal of the savings and loans company to pay customers their deposits.
Some of the customers threatened to Vote against the Nana Addo-led government in the 2020 election if he fails to ameliorate the financial crises facing the Banking Sector.
A despondent customer, Theresa Afriyie stated that:”the way DKM customers kicked out Mahama in the 2016 election will be the same approach they will use to repay Akufo Addo in the 2020 election if his government fails to resolve the impasse.”
The aggrieved customers predominantly traders,who were clad in red and black, wielding placards with the bold inscription “where is the President” “We are starving ” among others converged at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to petition the regional Minister.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah assured customers that his outfit will meet management of the Bank and the Central Bank to resolve their grievances.
Class new’s Maxwell Ofori Attah reported that the protest was incidence free with heavy security presence monitoring demonstrators as they marched through some principal streets of Kumasi.
The leader of the petitioners, Stephen Owusu explained that customers have already petitioned the overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfour Osei Tutu II to intervene as a continuous effort to recover their investments.
