34 superior court judges have been caught on camera taking bribes and extorting money from litigants in the latest investigate report by celebrated investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Over one hundred officials of the Judicial Service have also been cited in the explosive expose that took more than two years to execute.
Anas stealthily videotaped and audio recorded conversations with suspects or persons acting as agents of suspects.
Some high profile judges including, Justice John Ajet-Nassam, a High Court Judge, who freed Alfred Agbesi Woyome in the controversial Gh¢51 million judgment debt scandal, are among those cited in the investigative report.
Titled ‘Ghana in the Eyes of God – Epic of Injustice’, the piece of investigative work will be premiered at the Accra International Conference Centre on September 22, 2015.
Sources say the bribery scandal has shaken the judiciary to its very foundation, with some of the high profile judges already putting in their resignation, while others may have to be pushed out.
Joy News sources say Anas Aremeyaw Anas is under intense pressure not to air the video on September 22.
Anas has petitioned the Judicial Service and is requesting the removal of office of the culprits, whose names are yet to be released.
“We have received a petititon a copy of the petition and we are looking into the issue thoroughly. Ghanaians will be updated in due course”, the Daily Graphiic newspaper quoted a source at the Judicial Service.
Both Anas and the Judicial Service are tight-lipped over the issue, however, reports say the suspects are likely to be interdicted.
