A member of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Arthur Kobina Kennedy has stated that Ace Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas is holding mirror to the faces of Ghanaians to reflect the corrupt images of the citizens in the country.
According to him, Anas has proven that there is corruption in every aspect of the society including where justice is supposed to be upheld.
“He said if one person has been able to gone undercover to investigate such corrupt acts, then Ghana is rotten. Corruption is everywhere,” he said.
About 34 High Court Judges and 100 more officials of the judiciary were caught on camera extorting bribes from litigants in a video which was premiered on 22nd and 23rd September at the Accra International despite the interlocutory injunction suit against the showing of the video at hall by Justice Paul Derry.
Many people have criticized the method the Journalist used in his investigations.
But, the failed Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said he is very saddened about the fact that people are criticizing Anas for his expose`.
He said “Anas has brought the evidence we always needed so critics should shut up and deal with the corrupt judges”.
Speaking on Asempa fm’s Ekosii sen Thursday, Arthur Kennedy said Ghanaians should not only focus on the judges but other court officials who were captured in the video allegedly taking bribes.
“Looking at the Judges alone will be a mistake because there are lawyers and Clerks who were allegedly taking bribes in the video who must also be dealt with,” he added.
He urged the authorities to put their foot down and solve the issue of corruption anytime it pops up because it’s a social canker.
“Let’s not behave like Ostrich and pretend that it’s the judges alone. Corruption is a social canker so we need to prosecute those involved to serve as a deterrent. If we don’t solve it, people may resort to violence”.
Meanwhile 22 of the said implicated judges are still under suspension whiles investigations continue.
