The lawyer for one of the 34 judges exposed in a bribery scandal by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has said the Ghana Journalist Association’s crowing of Anas as Journalist of the Year 2015 for the exposé amounts to contempt of court.
Nii Kpakpo Samoa Addo, counsel for beleaguered justice Paul Uter Dery said conferring the award on Anas despite a court case challenging the bribery exposé was “wrong.”
He told ClassFMonline.com that the fact that there are ongoing court proceedings in connection with the case, crowing Anas journalist of the year “is actually in contempt of court.”
The exposed judges include 22 Magistrates and 12 High Court Judges. Anas’ two-year investigative work captured them on video taking bribe to pervert justice.
About 20 of them have been sacked in connection with the exposé.
