The General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) David Ofori Acheampong, has described private legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw as a concert lawyer.
This follows his comment on the sexual encounter between the headmaster of Breman Eduman D/A Basic School in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District of the Central Region, Robert Sepey, and a female student.
Mr Ampaw had accused Mr Ofori Acheampong of endorsing the act by the head teacher after he the GNAT General Secretary indicated that no one can impugn criminality in the matter after it was established that the student was 20 years, and that the act was a consensual sex.
Reacting to Mr Ampaw’s accusation on the Ghana Yensom show on Accra 100.5FM hosted by Chief Jerry Forson, Mr Ofori Acheampong said: “Lawyer Ampaw is a concert lawyer, he is a joker and comedian lawyer. He doesn’t know the law at all.”
He explained: “I indicated that because the student at the centre of the issue had said to the Police that she recorded the sex act and that it was a consensual sex you cannot raise any criminal issue with it. Also, because she is 20, it cannot be a criminal act. What kind of evidence are you going to use against the head teacher after the student herself has said all these? And you have a lawyer saying this explanation shows that GNAT is endorsing the action of the head teacher. He is a concert lawyer.”
“The action by the head teacher has brought the image of the profession into disrepute and that is something we can talk about but you cannot raise criminal issues against him at this moment.”
A four-minute video which captured the two having sex while the girl knelt on a kitchen stool, has become the toast of social media for the past few days.
Memes of the ‘stool sex’ have flooded social media since the video came out.
The GES has sacked the headmaster. It has also emerged that the video is over a year old. The GES said its investigations revealed that the headmaster and the student had been in a relationship for some time but are no more.
