Dreams FC Coach Charles Akunnor has backed former Hearts of Oak coaches Kenichi Yastsuhashi and Yaw Preko to excel at Nigerian side Ifeanyi Ubah.
The two officially joined the Nigerian top-flight side as head coach and assistant coach, respectively. The duo last season worked together at Hearts of Oak but Yatsuhashi mutually terminated his contract with the Accra-based side prior to the start of the second round of the Ghana Premier League while Preko quit his position three weeks ago, citing personal reasons for his departure.
Akunnor, speaking to Class Sports, believed the Ghanaian trainer would reap the benefits of his new job.
“I am not surprised he has landed this opportunity. He has been perfecting his skills as assistant coach of the Black Satellites and also served in the same position with Hearts of Oak. Remember he was also given the opportunity to manage the side towards the end of the season as well. Don’t also forget that the two of them worked together last season and they want to carry that into their new job. I am confident they will excel there,” he said.
Preko and his Japanese-American friend have been tasked by the club owners to take the side to the next level following their performances in previous seasons.
