President Nana Akufo Addo has today, June 19, sworn in Justice Sophia Akuffo as the new Chief Justice.
She takes over from Justice Georgina Wood who served as the longest Chief Justice in Ghana’s history.
The president charged her to ensure social justice and uphold the rule of law at all times even if members of government or the New Patriotic Party (NPP) break the law.
Present at the event held in Accra were former presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufour, former Chief Justice Georgina Wood, chiefs, ministers, and parliamentarians among others.
