President Nana Akufo-Addo has summoned to the Flagstaff House, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi over the recent attack on the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator.
Mr Boasiako, chairman of the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region, is said to be the patron of the pro-government vigilante group.
Meanwhile, police in the region have asked members of the Delta Force to turn themselves in or get hunted.
It is recalled that the group on Friday, 24 March stormed the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council to stop Mr George Agyei, who has been appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo as the regional security coordinator, from performing his duties.
According to them, they cannot work with Mr Agyei since he did not play an active role in the 2016 campaign that brought the NPP into power.
Police have arrested five persons in connection with the incident and charged them with conspiracy to assault, assaulting a public officer and causing unlawful damage.
Speaking to Class News’ regional correspondent Hafiz Tijani, the PRO of the regional police command, ASP Nketiah Yeboah, said three of the arrested members of the Delta Force reported themselves to the police and urged the other suspects to follow suit to assist in investigations.
“By the grace of God, we have arrested five of them. In fact, I commend three of them. The last three reported themselves yesterday and they were charged with assault,” he stated.
“We are asking the others to follow the examples of the last three and report themselves and if they don’t do that, we will smoke them out wherever they are so all of them should report and assist in the investigation.”
ASP Yeboah advised the public to be law-abiding, saying: “I will like to add that the laws of the land be respected. If you are in a political party, secondary school, any academic institution, religious body, family or any group and if you are unhappy with anything, follow due process. …Don’t do things and cause damage, wound people or steal property or do anything illegal. If an appointment has been made and you don’t like it, follow procedure or what is happening now is going to happen to you.”
He disclosed that the five have been granted bail.
