President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will leave Accra today, Monday, 21 August 2017, for a three-day official visit to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
The visit, which is at the invitation of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, is to deepen cordial bilateral relations between the two countries, and explore possible areas of co-operation.
The President’s visit is, in particular, to give further push to the June 2017 Memorandum of Understanding signed between the respective Ministers of Energy of the two countries in relation to the supply of Liquefied Natural Gas from Equatorial Guinea to Ghana.
It is anticipated that Nana Akufo-Addo will firm up the LNG deal expected to augment domestic supply.
Nana Akufo-Addo will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, the Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko, and officials from the presidency.
The president is expected to return to the country on Wednesday 23 August 2017.
