President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will present his maiden State of the Nation Address on Tuesday February 21, 2017 in parliament.
In a letter to the Speaker of the legislature, Prof Mike Oquaye, informing him of his plans to address the house, Mr Akufo-Addo wrote: “Pursuant to and as required by article 67 of the constitution, I wish to notify you that I intend to deliver a message on the state of the nation on February 21, 2017. Please accept, Mr Speaker, the assurance of my highest esteem and best wishes.”
Mr Akufo-Addo, who was sworn in as president on January 7, 2017, is likely to touch on his plans for the country in the first year of his term.
Key sectors he is likely to address includes inflation, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), taxes, tariffs, revenue, among others.
The 72-year-old is also expected to touch on the state of the economy handed over to him by the previous administration.
