FIFA president Gianni Infantino has described President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a great football fan, which made his discussions with him on the wellbeing of Ghana football easier.
“I’m happy to have met His Excellency the president of this country who is a great football fan and this helps because what we discussed goes in conformity with my mission here, which is to deliberate on the wellbeing of Ghana football,” he told the press after a closed door meeting with Mr Akufo-Addo.
Speaking to pressmen after his closed-door meeting with Ghana’s president, Mr Infantino stated that Mr Akufo-Addo displayed great knowledge of football which impressed him.
Mr Infantino also expressed joy to be in “the country of the Black Stars who have written so many pages in the history of this sport and made legendary contributions to make the sport the number one sport worldwide”.
He noted that government and the Ghana Football Association must work in unison to propel football to greater heights.
“Government must support the association to develop the game. GFA must be the leader in football development in the country,” Mr Infantino urged.
