The Lead Counsel for Aisha Huang, Captain Retired Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey has said his client is not into Galamsey but rather an excavator spare parts dealer
Captain Effah-Dartey says Aisha Huang is innocent of the charges levelled against her in court because she is not a galamseyer therefore the court should set her free.
Captain Effah-Dartey in an interview says he feels very bad when people are condemning Aisha Huang without listening to her side of the story.
Moreover, people have created the impression that Aisha Huang is a galamsey guru who has made up her mind to do galamsey and spoil the lands, however, what he knows as a lead counsel of Aisha Hunag is that she deals with excavator spare parts and she sells it to the miners.
“They create the impression that the woman is a galamsey queen who has made up her mind to do galamsey because she has a lot of money but when you deep down with investigations, when you listen to witnesses you’ll realize that the woman has not got any license to mine Gold in Ghana”
He says Aisha Huang does not have license to mine gold in Ghana and the only work she does which is closer to galamsey is the spare parts she sells to the Galamsey operators.
“the only work she does closely resembling galamsey is that she sells spare parts for excavator machines, spare parts dealer. If you sell spare parts to excavators, must she know whether the excavator is going to be used for license mining operations or not?”
Nobody wants to talk for Aisha Huang because Ghanaians have already drawn conclusions that she is into galamsey which he feels it is very excruciating when everybody is against you, Captain Effah-Dartey fumes out.
“She is very sad but Ghanaians have classified her as Galamsey queen and a lot of names, oh God, and as I’m talking to you now the woman is in cells and nobody wants to talk for her”
“there is nothing so painful that you will be sent to cells and everybody is condemning you, nobody wants to listen to your side of the story”
