Posters of former Interior Minister Mr Kwesi Ahwoi announcing his intentions to run for the 2020 presidential elections on the ticket of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have popped up and flooded social media.
Although the party will be opening nominations for aspirants in 2018, some names have popped up as potential candidates to lead the NDC in the 2020 elections.
Other people speculated to be interested in running on the ticket of the NDC are former Minister of Communication Ekow Spio-Garbrah, former Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority Sylvester Mensah, former Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon Nii Amasah Namoale and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Professor Joshua Alabi.
Similar posters also popped up for all the above names.
Mr Ahwoi has, however, denied knowledge of the posters and said he has not contracted anyone to do that on his behalf.
Speaking to Class News’ Kwesi Parker-Wilson, Mr Ahwoi said such acts do not auger well for the fortunes of the party. He noted that some faceless people have been doing this to some bigwigs of the party and he feels it is not healthy.
