Following the Black Stars’ failure to break a 35-year-old Africa Cup of Nations trophy drought, former African Player of the Year Abdul “Golden Boy” Razak has called on all stakeholders to jointly discuss and find solutions to the predicaments of the team.
According to the former Kumasi Asante Kotoko star, failure to identify the real problems spells doom for the country’s hopes of winning its fifth AFCON trophy anytime soon.
“When we sit down, we need to bring everybody on board, the right people, so that we discuss the way forward. It’s too much, 35 years, a country like Ghana, and even if we sleep we can win something. It is so sad and something must be done about the situation,” he told class FM sports.
Razak, who was a Cup of Nations winner himself in 1978, also questioned the capabilities of the football hierarchy in the country.
“If you are pulling the rope and it’s not coming you will have to check why it is stuck. Are the right people there (at the helm)? If they are not the right people then they will have to be changed,” he added.
