Ghana’s group in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon is a real test for Black Stars coach Avram Grant, Rev. Osei Kofi, a former Black Stars player, has said.
Ghana will be facing Egypt, Uganda, and Mali in group D in the tournament. This was announced during the draw that took place in Gabon on Wednesday October 19.
Rev Osei Kofi believes that playing against these teams in one group will test the capabilities of Mr Grant.
Mr Grant has been under intense pressure to turn around the fortunes of the team after failing to win any of his last four games. He has also been criticised for ignoring talent on the local scene by not patronising the local game, a situation the former Ghanaian international is not happy about.
Rev Osei Kofi told Class Sports on Thursday October 20: “Avram Grant has not been staying here, so now we are going to see how he is going to manage our team for us. Since he came here, I haven’t seen his technical plan or play and that is not good enough.”
He suggested: “We need to select the best team for the tournament.”
