The Krontihene of Adukrom-Akuapem, Nana Opoposiopo Arko Asare, has been destooled over an alleged misconduct.
A kingmaker, Nana Asare Duasa, said Nana Opoposiopo Arko Asare attempted enstooling a self-acclaimed chief, Nana Opare Ababio, for the people of Adukrom-Akuapem this week – a conduct that flew in the face of the customs and traditions of Adukrom.
“The former Krontihene, Arko Asare, is neither a member of any of the three royal gates of the Anunkode clan nor a kingmaker; therefore, he has no locus in selecting a candidate for the royal family”.
Nana Opoposiopo Arko Asare’s action, according to the kingmakers, was in contravention of the Chieftaincy Act as well as a gross disrespect of the chief of Adukrom, who is also the Nifahene of Akuapem, Nana Otutu Ababio V.
Elders of the Akoawi clan of Adukrom (the custodians of the Kronti Division), the Abusuapanyin of the Akoawi clan (kingmakers in the Kronti Division), Okomfo Afua Annorbea (the priest of Akoawi clan and a kingmaker in the Kronti Division) and some elders of the clan and elders of Adukrom performed the necessary rites and customs to successfully destool Nana Opoposiopo Arko Asare.
