The New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has stopped the allocation of aviation lands to private developers within Adenta.
This move, according to government, will help them ascertain the real intentions behind the application to acquire the lands, which have been earmarked for future use by public.
In response to a question on the current owners of aviation lands at Adenta, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu, said even though the land was purchased to serve as the Remote Receiving Station, the previous government converted it to commercial and residential use.
He told parliament on Tuesday 21 March that government had halted the sale of close to 200 acres of land to private developers.
“Mr Speaker, on my assumption of office, I have directed the Lands Commission to cease issuing letters to the following companies that are still pending. Global International Limited, 14 acres; Igmangus Consult 16.8; Romantic Furniture Manufacturing, 6 acres; The Consortium, 44 acres; Africa Fiesta Limited, 18.6 acres, Satis Construction Limited, 150 acres; Korquaye Development Limited, 5 acres in total. Mr Speaker, quite close to about 200 and above acres of land. Direction was given to that effect for allocation letters not to be issued,” Mr Amewu disclosed.
