Captain Dennis Mahama (Rtd), father of the late Major Maxwell Mahama, has said he is still deeply hurt by his son’s murder and has not been able to watch the video of the mob action that took his life a year ago.
“I can’t watch, I’m even unable to listen to the whole story from people who have watched it, I can’t watch, I have never watched it and I don’t think I can watch it,” he told Accra FM’s Ama Brako on Friday 25 May 2018.
Major Mahama was killed on 29 May 2017 at Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region. Fourteen people including William Baah, a former assemblyman, are standing trial for his death.
They have all pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder, abetment to murder and conspiracy to murder.
Captain Mahama bemoaned the slow pace of the case and indicated that “it is frustrating”. He was quick to add that the family “wants to follow the process however slow it is, and all that they want is justice for Major Maxwell Mahama”.
Meanwhile, the family will hold a memorial service at the St. Catherine Catholic Church, Burma Camp, Accra to mark a year of Major Mahama’s death.
