A joint security force totalling 5000 will be deployed for the swearing in of President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo, the spokesperson for the Transition Team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has announced.
“Our friends from National Security and the security agencies are providing us with about 5000 men and women drawn from various security agencies,” he indicated at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, January 3.
Briefing the media on security arrangements for the presidential inauguration scheduled for Saturday January 7, Mr Nkrumah explained that the security personnel would be drawn from the military, police, National Security, and others.
He added that access to certain areas of the venue would be strictly regulated and pleaded with members of the public to cooperate with security officials during screening and other checks.
He cautioned individuals and other groups of people with evil intentions to desist from any unlawful activities “because the security will deal with you firmly”.
Meanwhile, major roads leading to the Black Star square will be blocked during the ceremony.
