US-based Nigerian musician, Edosa Ogbeide, known in showbiz as FreeQa, has said that he unveiled his ‘Samkpele’ single in Ghana solely because of Ghanaian hip-life artiste Sarkodie.
According to him, his song is not limited to Ghanaians but cuts across different demographics, adding: “My music goes all the way to Africa, the world and beyond and I will like to keep it like that”.
He told DJ Premier on Entertainment Capital on Accra 100.5 FM on Saturday, 12 May 2018 that he also has his family here in Ghana, saying: “I wanted to drop the ‘Samkpele’ song in Nigeria, but after I met Possi Gee (Ghanaian music producer) and he was done with mixing of the song, he told me that I should let Sarkodie hear this song and after Sarkodie heard the song, he said he could jump on it and he did”.
After the collaboration, FreeQa said he felt it would be prudent to have the song released in Ghana instead of his native home.
The vocalist and producer further indicated that he followed up with a promotion in Ghana and so far, he is impressed with the performance and is confident that the song will be a hit.
The video to ‘Samkpele’ was also shot in Accra and accessible on YouTube. ‘Samkpele’ is also available on iTunes and other streaming websites.
FreeQa has released a new single titled ‘Poke It Like A Bull’ featuring Joey B.
