Lawrence Agyinsam, Chief Executive Officer for the Ghana Export Import (EXIM) Bank, has revealed that the bank is investing US$ 7.7 million into the pineapple processing factory at Ekumfi in the Central Region.
The factory is the first to be established under the One-District, One-Factory programme of the Akufo-Addo-led government.
Speaking during the launch of the factory on Friday August 25, Mr Agyinsan said: “We are investing US $7.7 million in this project. I will take this opportunity to send a clarion message of encouragement to all other entrepreneurs to take advantage of this initiative.
“As stakeholders in the finance industry, we are poised to ensure its success. Your role as an entrepreneur is primary to ensure that you have a business plan that your idea and concept are bankable. We must remember that the business opportunities given us is neither free money nor grant or government money.
“The One-District, One-Factory policy is an enabling environment policy for you to access among other things, long term accessible financing to establish viable business.
“I want to reaffirm to President Akufo-Addo that, we are humbled by this opportunity to serve our country in a manner that your industrialisation policy offers. We want to assure the people of Ghana that we are again humbled to offer our services and skills to your benefits.”
