Ghanaian highlife legend Nana Amakye Dede expressed that he believes he has not been celebrated enough for his contributions to the music industry spanning over 40 years.
In an interview with Okatakyie Afrifa on the Angel Morning Show, monitored by Mubarak Yakubu, Nana Amakye Dede shared his thoughts, noting that while Ghana has many musicians, he feels overlooked.
He mentioned that musicians in other parts of the world receive more recognition, and he highlighted a perceived lack of acknowledgment for artists in Ghana.
According to Amakye Dede, Ghanaians tend to forget to celebrate their celebrities and appreciate the impact they have had on people.
When asked what Ghanaians could do to recognize his contributions, Amakye Dede suggested that there is much to be done for their celebration.
He emphasized the importance of honoring musicians, stating that music is for the soul.
“I have not been celebrated at all, in fact, if I say I have not been celebrated, it tells that we don’t remember our celebrities so if I say I have not been celebrated you wouldn’t understand.”
“There are more things to be done for me to be celebrated, they have not celebrated me yet. It is sad.”
