Alavanyo: Police intensify security after latest shooting
Volta regional minister Dr Archibald Letsa has disclosed that security and investigations will be intensified in reprisal attacks in Alavanyo that led to the death of a 12-year-old boy on Thursday, May 11.
Prince Kwakutsey, a primary six pupil, was shot by gunmen who broke into his parents’ home shortly after he had returned from school.
Police and military men have been patrolling the area to ensure calm as tensions have heightened in the town. The family of the deceased is demanding justice for the death of Prince and improves security protection.
Meanwhile, Dr Letsa who spoke with Class FM’s Jonas Ofori-Yeboah on 12 Live, has said that another victim who got injured is receiving treatment.
“These attacks are reprisals,” he said, adding that there was an attack in January at Alavanyo and another attack at Nkonya in April before the most recent one.
There is a long-standing land dispute between the people of Alavanyo and Nkonya that has resulted in many deaths for decades.
