Odotobri Rural Bank Limited at Jacobu in the Ashanti Region has been adjudged the CIMG Rural Bank of the year 2017 by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).
This is the third time, and the second time running, the bank has won the award. Odotobri Rural Bank won the maiden edition of the same award when the rural banking category was included in the award scheme in 2012.
The award scheme seeks to acknowledge individuals and organisations for their marketing excellence and innovations in the marketing field, and pulls together quite a number of companies and corporate affiliates.
The awards have several categories including: CIMG Hall of Fame, Personalities, Media, Business, Product, and the President’s Special Award. The event was held at the Accra International Conference Centre recently, under the theme ‘Marketing: A catalyst for driving Ghana Beyond Aid’.
The Governing Council of the CIMG, in collaboration with stakeholders such as Association of Rural Banks-Ghana, AGI, GNCCI, MOTI, National Insurance Commission, Ghana Association of Bankers and research institutions among others, played an active role in the selection process.
Consequently, the Awards Selection Committee of the CIMG in consultation with other stakeholders nominated Odotobri Rural Bank and other rural banks in that category; and out of about 140 rural banks in the country, Odotobri Rural Bank emerged Rural Bank of the Year, 2017.
For the third time, and second time running, Odotobri Rural Bank has proven beyond all possible doubt that it has become an accomplished giant in unit banking – a feat that scored the bank more points in this prestigious award category.
The bank’s efforts to provide convenience for its clientele through the provision of ATMs and e-facilities seem to touch base with the target audience who clamour daily for the bank’s services, which in turn has seen customers of the bank grow from 5,795 in mid-2017 to a current figure of over 10,000 users.
The bank is also on record as having used peer-reviewed information to better its lot as a bank; an exercise that has seen expansions in the its outreach and customer base, and improvement in human resource capabilities and operational performance.
Odotobri Rural Bank showed steady growth in market share for the year under review, and its CSR initiatives in the education arena continue to put smiles on many faces and impact lives.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr. Siaka Baba Ahmed, in brief remarks after presentation of the award said he is grateful to the board and his management team and the entire staff, as he recognises their unique individual role which saw the Bank win this prestigious award for the third time. He finally dedicated the award to the bank’s cherished customers as well as all relevant stakeholders, saying their loyalty to the bank has brought them to this current enviable position.
