A New Patriotic Party (NPP) national chairman hopeful, Fred Amankwah Safo, has suggested the establishment of a party school to teach members its ideology and foundations.
Most of the NPP faithful, according to him, joined the party by birth, and for that matter have little to no knowledge about the origin of the party and what it represents.
“It’s not their fault,” Mr Safo said, “for lacking knowledge about the party’s ideology, because, nothing has been done to help them know the foundation of the party”.
He, therefore, suggested the need for the party to teach its members to understand the ideology and foundation of the party “so that they will not go contrary to it”.
He said at least some party members at the constituency, regional and national level have to be trained as ambassadors to teach other party members its ideology.
Mr Safo these in an interaction with Accra FM’s Elisha Adarkwah, adding that the desire to set up an NPP school is one of the reasons for his decision to contest for the national chairmanship of the NPP in 2018.
Mr Safo said should he become national chairman, he would establish a weekend school for the teaching of the party’s ideology and history.
