Incumbent Member of Parliament for Wa East constituency, Amin Salifu, has praised himself for the many development projects that he has brought the Upper West town.
According to him anyone who knows the town can easily identify the development he has championed.
Speaking to the press shortly after he filed nomination to contest for the third time in the Wa East NDC parliamentary primaries, he stated that the constituency which used to lack several infrastructural projects now has several dotted across the length and breadth of the community.
‘‘The development projects that I have lobbied as parliamentarian to bring to this constituency are unparalleled. This was a constituency when people are posted to work they refuse because there was nothing here,’’ he stated
Mr. Salifu said before the NDC came to power seven years ago, there was only one community in the constituency that was connected to the national grid.
The situation is however different today as 49 communities can now boast of power from the national grid.
In the areas of health and education, Mr. Amin said the situation was nothing to write to talk about. There now 13 CHP compounds and three senior high schools one of which already has started.
Mr. Amin acknowledged that the biggest challenge for the people in the constituency is the difficulty of crossing the Kulun and Ambalaara rivers, but said government has gotten funding from the Spanish government to solve the problem.
He said when the road is completed it will make it easier for for the people to travel to the Northern or the Upper East regions without passing through the Wa-Sawla-Fufulso road which is longer.
He appealed to the government to speed up the process for work to begin on the road.
He is optimistic that he will win the November 7 parliamentary primaries as he has seen no threat coming from his only challenger, Minister for Chieftaincy, Henry Seidu Danaa.
He said since his return from Europe in 2007, he has always been with residents of Wa East.
“I sleep, eat and do everything with them. I know their concerns and they know if given the chance again I can do it better than anyone,” he said.
