‘Mahama Ayariga has failed Bawku Central’ – MP aspirant

A Thirty-year-old building and roads Engineer, Alhaji Ibrahim Amadu Dori, has vowed to unseat Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga in the upcoming National Democratic Congress parliamentary primaries on November 7.

The highly-spirited and confident young man, who was speaking on the Point Blank segment on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, says the MP has failed to lobby for the needed development for Bawku.

Alhaji Ibrahim Amadu Dori, who has filed his forms, says he has the development of the people of Bawku at heart much more and can lobby the required development for the area when he becomes their parliamentary representative.

Alhaji Amadu says he has been in politics since university and it is now time for him to get into national politics despite.Asked whether he felt the incumbent MP, who is also the Communications Minister, had not lobby pushed for enough development to the area, Alhaji Ibrahim replied “that is relative; he is doing well and that’s okay but I think there is much more that has been left behind and my coming in will accumulate it to a certain level. The cry is so loud that if somebody doesn’t step in with a new leadership style there is going to be some level of disaster to hit the NDC seat in Bawku Central comes December 2016. When you come into Bawku Central you will wonder whether there is an MP who is also a cabinet minister. We have bad roads, we lack portable water and a whole lot of schools are still under trees”.

The contractor added “for more than 17 years, Bawku has not seen one single tarred road. The power to lobby and to see to it that your people get a fair share of the cake is much more important. We need someone who has the people of Bawku at heart to ensure they get what they also deserve. I am going to make sure I will facilitate a number of developmental projects that will inure to the benefit of the people through lobbying. My candidature is simply about development; putting the agenda of Bawku first before any other thing. I want to lead the people of Bawku and show them a new style of leadership. It’s not just about Mahama Ayariga; it’s about the Bawku Central Constituency where I come from” he noted.

Mahama Ayariga was Bawku Central MP in 2004 but lost to Adamu Dramani Sakande of the NPP in 2008.

The seat became vacant when Adamu was convicted and jailed by a court for contesting the election while being the citizen of another country which is against the laws of Ghana

Mr. Sakande, who fell ill in prison was pardoned.

Ayariga recaptured the seat in 2012 in a fiercely contested election. He is seen as a strong force to contend with.

He will also face competition from a former MCE who is also considered a strong contender.
