A 30-year-old woman was on Monday made to eat her own excrement after she broke into a house to steal.
The incident occurred at a residence in Dichemso in Kumasi near Fabulous Hotel after an occupant of the house, alone at home, heard some unusual sounds from her room.
According to Accra FM’s Osofo Afrifa who reported the incident on Ghana Yensom, the lady entered her room to find a stranger busily going through her bag, having already taken GHS150.
She confronted the unknown woman who immediately began acting strangely, pulling down her (the thief’s) trousers and inserting her finger into her anus, drawing some faecal matter into her hands in the process.
The unusual behaviour of the alleged burglar prompted the resident of the house to drag her out of the room and shout for help from neighbours. The correspondent said some angry young men who rushed to the scene questioned the thief about her presence in the house and what she was doing with the excrement in her hands, to which she replied she wanted to eat it.
She was, thus, ordered to eat the egested product, which she obliged.
The crowd turned on the alleged thief to lynch her but police were called to the scene to intervene, after which she was cleaned up before being whisked away to the police station.
Some of the eyewitnesses who spoke to the reporter said feigning madness had been the latest stratagem in use by some female thieves in the area after being caught in the act in order to avoid the wrath of the mob.
