Acting coach for Asante Kotoko, Abdul Gazale says the nature of the El Wak Stadium didn’t help matters as his team drew 1-1 with Legon Cities on Thursday in their Ghana Premier League encounter.
Gazale has taken charge of the defending champions temporarily following the dismissal of Seydou Zerbo.
In Gazale’s first game in charge, his team took the lead against Legon Cities in the 20th minute courtesy of a spot kick converted by skipper Richard Boadu.
However, the Porcupine Warriors failed to increase the tally and even hold on to the lead as the Royals through Alex Aso restored parity on the 70th-minute mark.
According to the interim boss, but for the pitch, his team could have found victory in the game
“We came here with our mindset of getting the three points but unfortunately, we conceded in the second half. We were thinking of getting the maximum points but the nature of the pitch didn’t help at all.
“We will go back to the drawing board, work on a few things and start to think about what to do in the next match,” said Abdulai after the game.
The result have pushed Legon Cities further up to the 14th position rising above King Faisal and Great Olympics on goal difference.
Kotoko on the other hand remain outside the top four lying sixth on the table with an outstanding match against King Faisal.
