Hip-life artiste OJ Blaq has disclosed that leaving Lynx Entertainment had no effect on his music, contrary to speculations that his career took a nosedive after parting ways with the record label.
OJ Blaq joined Richie Mensah’s Lynx Entertainment back in 2006 where they combined to release several songs including the hit song Charlie Wote.
Speaking on Entertainment Capital on Accra100.5FM on Saturday September 10, OJ Blaq said: “I was already on television doing Sun City before I got to Lynx, so it never affected my popularity or my career. I feel if I want to do things the right way and in order…it wasn’t Lynx Entertainment that made me popular. The truth is, right from Achimota Primary School, every kid knew me in the school before I went to Achimota Secondary. I was one of the few popular persons in showbiz and everybody knew that.”
Touching on whether he still does music or has intentions of quitting, the musician, who is recuperating from a kidney ailment, said: “I’m not rushing with music, I still do both acting and music, just that things don’t go as planned for me and one thing I have realised in this industry is people will sabotage you when you speak the truth. I am the type who won’t go against my contract but that’s the problem with most sets in Ghana.”
