Bugri Naabu, Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has added his voice to calls on the Electoral Commission (EC) to see the need to produce a new voter register for Ghana saying, “…the current register is a hopeless one; we don’t see it as reliable for next year’s elections. There are many foreigners and ghost names in it and that is why we are saying it cannot be used as a credible register. If we use this current register for next year’s elections there will be misunderstandings in the country.”
On the tour of the standard bearer of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo, the Regional Chairman stated that he and his (regional) executives are very hopeful that the “Rise and Build” tour message by the party’s flagbearer will get many people in the region to see the need to reject President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016 .
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, Chairman Bugri Naabu, as he is popularly called, said he had met with all the 31 constituency executives of the party, as well as all the aspirants who lost in the last primaries, to help to propagate the “Rise and Build” message so as to shield their constituents from the “deceits” of the NDC prior to the 2016 general elections.
Chairman Bugri Naabu advised the party’s youth in the region to desist from commenting in the media on the current issues concerning the Council of Elders and the National Chairman, Paul Afoko, since it had been forwarded to the Disciplinary Committee to handle.
