Eight persons believed to be youth of Damongo in the Savannah Region have sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds following an alleged attack on the Damongo District Police Station by a cross section of the youth.
3news.com gathered that the seven suspects were moved to the capital of the Savannah Region, Damongo, but the youth on hearing about the arrest besieged the police station to demand the release of the seven suspects.
This resulted in a confrontation between them and the police.
Gunshots were allegedly fired by the police, injuring eight people in the process.
The victims are receiving treatment at the Damongo Government Hospital.
Meanwhile, a police vehicle with registration number GP 516 transporting the seven suspects to Tamale was involved in an accident at Tailorpe, a community around Busunu on the Fufulso-Damongo highway.
The occupants including eight police officers have all sustained various degrees of injury.
It will be recalled that on December 20, 2022, some irate youth in Buipe demonstrated against the Enskinment of a Fulani Mande chief by Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II.

Call for arrest
Meanwhile, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II has called for the arrest of the irate youth who attacked a Fulani settlement in Buipe following some ongoing misunderstanding between the Jinapor palace and the youth.
According to the Buipewura, the peace of Buipe can not be traded for any selfish interest of the youth.
Meanwhile, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II following the recommendation of a seven-member committee set up by the Buipewura to investigate the recent uprising in Buipe has de-skinned the embattled Fulani Chief of Mande known as Bure Ibrahim, among others.
The Buipewura made the pronouncement in his palace on Monday January 16.
