Three persons are standing trial at the Accra Circuit for allegedly robbing two preachers at knife point while they were preaching at Santana, Tesano in Accra.
The three – Nana Yaw Abdul Rashid, Kistin Ridwan and Husein Ibrahim who pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbing evangelists Francis Ainoo and Solomon Nuabaar on November 1, 2017, will reappear before the court on December 4,2017.
According to the complainants on November 1, 2017 about 7:30pm while evangelizing along the Santana railway line, they were attacked by the accused persons.
The accused persons allegedly took away an LG, an Infinix and a Samsung mobile phones at knife point from the complainants and took to their heels.
An eye witness who saw what happened allegedly called Nana Yaw Abdul Rashid (first accused) on his cell phone and asked him to return the stolen items.
On November 1, 2017, the first accused returned the LG phone to the witness and together they met one of the complainants and handed it to him.
On November 10, 2017 the matter was reported to the police and the first accused was arrested. During investigation Nana Yaw mentioned the second accused as the one who took the Infinix phone from one of the complainants.
The first accused is said to have added that they sold the Infinix phone to one Kadiri at Nsawam for GH¢200 and shared the money.
The LG and Infinix phones have since been retrieved.
