If the electorate do not vote wisely and they give the mandate to any party other than the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), the country will be adversely affected, flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has caution.
“If you vote badly, it will affect you for four years – it will lead to poverty, disease and unemployment…vote for jobs, potable water, good roads, stable electricity supply, access to good health care among others,” Dr Nduom noted.
Dr Nduom, together with his vice-presidential nominee, Ms Brigette Dzogbenuku and other party officials were at Manso in the Mpohor Constituency in the Western Region as part of their campaign tour.
Addressing a gathering of supporters on Friday September 9, Dr Nduom charged Ghanaians not to waste their vote in the upcoming December 7 elections on the wrong candidate.
He said unlike football where one can go about regular life soon after losing a match, a vote will have positive or negative effects which will last for at least four years.
The business mogul added that “if you vote for someone who does not give you what they promised, you have wasted your vote. …President Mahama went to the Flagstaff House and has brought dumsor, disease, poverty and unemployment despite his numerous promises.”
He charged the gathering to look around and see if the current Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Alex Agyekum, has helped to bring any development to the area.
In view of this, he urged the people to vote for J. B. Aubyn, the parliamentary aspirant of the PPP as a replacement for Mr Agyekum and “see what he will do for the constituency.”
For him, the flag bearers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are making empty promises which he admonished the electorate not to buy into.
“Mahama said he will create 1 million jobs when he wins the elections,… those are vague promises. Nana Addo says he will send a factory to each district. I wonder why he [Nana Addo] waited till now… the answer is simple… he cannot do it,” Dr Nduom underscored.
“I will never say Rawlings, Kufuor or Mahama have not done anything, however, despite all their ‘works’, malaria, poverty, bad roads and unemployment still linger,” he added
