This resulted in a confrontation between them and the police.
Gunshots were allegedly fired by the police, injuring eight people in the process.
The victims are receiving treatment at the Damongo Government Hospital.

It will be recalled that on December 20, 2022, some irate youth in Buipe demonstrated against the Enskinment of a Fulani Mande chief by Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II.
They also said it was even a novelty that flies in the face of the Gonja tradition and culture to have a Fulani chief in a Gonja chief’s palace, although history has proven that Gonja has primordial relations with the Fulanis – the story of how a Fulani mallam, Fati Murikpe, helped his friend Sumaila Ndewura Jakpa to conquer the present modern day Gonjaland.
Call for arrest
Meanwhile, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II has called for the arrest of the irate youth who attacked a Fulani settlement in Buipe following some ongoing misunderstanding between the Jinapor palace and the youth.
According to the Buipewura, the peace of Buipe can not be traded for any selfish interest of the youth.
Meanwhile, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II following the recommendation of a seven-member committee set up by the Buipewura to investigate the recent uprising in Buipe has de-skinned the embattled Fulani Chief of Mande known as Bure Ibrahim, among others.
The Buipewura made the pronouncement in his palace on Monday January 16.
