Nana Akwasi Marfo, a card bearing member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Affigya-Sekyere constituency, has indicated that members of the governing party believe in reining curses to resolve grievances than resorting to the party structures.
According to him, the party structures put in place to deal with disagreements and complaints cannot be trusted to settle the differences hence, the need to resort to curses to deal with these problems.
His comments come following complaints that most aspirants have raised with the conduct of the party’s ongoing primaries to elect new constituency executives to steer affairs of the party for the next four years.
Mr Marfo, while speaking on the Ghana Yensom show hosted by Chief Jerry Forson, on Accra 100.5FM on Monday, 26 February 2018, accused the election committee of the NPP of manipulating the elections to favour some candidates against others.
According to him, the names of some eligible voters have been removed from the album containing the list of voters while some unknown persons in the constituencies have been clandestinely included to enable them vote in favour of some specific candidates.
he said: “It appears curses is the language the party understands and so we’ll go that way, in fact it has become part of the NPP’s tradition.
“We have issues with the way and manner the primaries are being conducted. Some candidates are being favoured against others, some names we don’t know have been added to the album to allow them vote in favour of the preferred candidates.
“Yet we can’t report to the executives because the party structures cannot be trusted.”
